Article

I just read this article and thought it was worthy of sharing. http://mindshift.kqed.org/2011/04/five-ways-silicon-valley-is-changing-education/ It really spoke to me because I feel it is amazing how many things are effecting education, technology wise. I also think it's making a huge impact on our lives in general - for example how many businesses now have a Facebook fan page? It seems every time I turn around a store or other business is advertising "Like us on Facebook!"

Today, I'm also linking you to your laugh for the day. It's an article entitled "What Teachers Should Never Wear." It's a little old and even I have admit to the wearing of Uggs, (which is on the presentation as a don't), mostly thanks to cold lunch duty and their overwhelming popularity & comfort. I waited a long time to jump on that bandwagon! But this article is entertaining, thought provoking and it drives home the point that people notice what you wear. Enjoy!http://theapple.monster.com/careers/articles/8431-what-teachers-should-never-ever-wear?page=1&utm_content=ta_r1_20090604_u&utm_source=nlet

  2. You can't fight technology. You can try but you won't win. Technology grows exponentially. This is what people today want and to trying to disregard and not incorporate it in formal education and the work place(with tight regulation) would be foolish. The possibilities for learning and growth are enormous. The reach the internet gets is unbelievable. We should be getting smarter but are we? I guess the rub is how do we teach to use technology for real learning and not for some of the ridiculous banter that goes on. A lot of times these social media are just another way of gossiping and wasting time. This is a challenge and one we can't ignore.

  3. I have to add that some teachers are truly great professional dressers. However, sometimes it's hard to disitnguish who the teachers and students are. Thank God we now have a school uniform in our school district. :)
