Online Resources

It's amazing to me how many things are available online! What's even MORE amazing that nearly every day someone sends me a new website. Some a good, some are bad and a few are great. I'm lucky to work with some amazing people who share links with me and I really appreciate that. So do your part to pass it on. When you find a cool new link but can't use it yourself send to someone you know. Thay'll appreciate it more than you know. If you have something you've found that I haven't included this week be sure to share it with the class on your blog.

Since it's WAY easier for me to understand a site if I actualy see what you can do with it I'm linking you to a blog I created to showcase some of my 5th grade technology projects: http://grade5uestechnology.blogspot.com/
There you will see some of the things my classes have been completing lately - Animotos and Movie Maker Movies - ENJOY!

  1. Great stuff :) I wish I had a teacher like you when I was their age but, alas, the closest thing we had was typing class (yes, I give my age away). I do remember making a music video in 8th grade with a creative writing teacher. It was an awesome experience and I still remember it very vividly. I recently gave my middle school students an assignment using Movie Maker among other programs (depending on what they had access to) . Some of them created mini musicals and some of them made music videos. It was a lot of fun for them and great watching them all. Kids can do so many great things when they are steered in the right direction and given the opportunity!

  2. I second that statement Shari! Ditto! Where were you Prof. Schmidt when I was kid in school? As a kid these types of activities are so motivating nowadays! Children have different needs to express themselves. They can use this as a healthy outlet to relieve their stress... In college I had to make a short story movie regarding my job at the time. It was fun to do, however editing was such a hassle and time consuming. These kind of sites would have definetely helped me and made my project so much better.
